我还想请最富盛名的史学家司马迁。他在公元前年,奔赴过长城沿线,在他的巨著《史记》中描述了这座长万里的军事工程。如果今天他也能带着《史记》,到这里来签售,估计要用几辆卡车装载他的书。因为那时人们是在竹子或木头上写字。

我之所以这样说,那是因为,在启动50件文物项目之前,我曾打印出一个文物清单。汤米见我试图寻找文物和故事之间的关系和排列顺序,他给我出了一个好主意。他给每一件文物都做了“名片”。
Hemadethename-cards,andwebeganshufflingthemaroundonthefloor,matchingupthosewiththesimilarfunctions,thesamematerials,obviouslikenesses,adjacentages--andsometimesputtingverycontrastingobjectstogether.Pairsformed,objectslinedup,andgraduallyapossiblestorylineemergedas‘GroupChats’ofvariouskindsbegantomaterialize.
我开始用他制作的文物“名片”,把文物与文物进行对比、排列、调换、组合。功能相同的、材料相似的、时代接近的摆放在一起;有时也把对比强烈的文物搁在一处。于是,在我家的地板上,这些文物卡片,一对对、一行行、一组组,一目了然。它们形似今天的“群聊”。
